New Model Announcement: The Ford P4 Landau in 1:18 Scale

Eagle-eyed observers of everything we do here at Authentic Collectables may have noticed a recent trend of announcing and releasing 1:18 scale replicas of some more 'left of field' Australian luxury cars from the late 1960s-1970s era.

First we dropped the iconic Leyland P76 which has since been released in two (sold out) colours now with a third to come. Then we announced the Holden HK Brougham in Inca Gold which is on track to be released later this year.

Now it's time for something for Ford fans. It's the Ford P4 Landau in the incredible Cosmic Blue colour scheme.

The Ford P4 Landau, produced by Ford Australia between 1973 and 1976, holds a special place in automotive history as a unique blend of performance and luxury. Based on the Australian Ford Falcon and Ford Fairlane, the Landau was introduced as a high-end coupe that catered to the growing demand for luxurious, stylish vehicles during the 1970s.

The Landau was distinguished by its sleek coupe body style, characterised by a long hood and a short rear deck, reminiscent of American muscle cars but with a refined touch. It was powered by a robust 351 cubic inch (5.8-litre) Cleveland V8 engine, delivering strong performance that appealed to driving enthusiasts. The interior was lavishly appointed, featuring leather seats, wood grain trim, and advanced amenities for its time, such as air conditioning, power windows, and an eight-track stereo system. These features positioned the Landau as a premium offering in the Australian market.

Despite its appeal, the Landau’s market success was limited by several factors. Its high price point and the economic challenges of the mid-1970s, including the oil crisis, restricted its sales. As a result, only around 1,385 units were produced, making it a rare find today. This scarcity, combined with its distinctive design and luxury features, has elevated the Ford P4 Landau to a coveted status among collectors.

Today, the Ford P4 Landau is celebrated as a classic Australian car that embodies the spirit of the 1970s. Collectors prize it not only for its rarity but also for its blend of performance and luxury. Restored models command high prices at auctions, and the Landau remains a symbol of Ford Australia’s ingenuity and ability to create vehicles that resonate with both local and global automotive trends. Its enduring legacy is a testament to its unique place in automotive history.

Authentic Collectables are excited to announce to collectors the Ford P4 Landau which is scheduled to be produced in 1:18 scale sealed body with clear windows and high detail throughout, including the interior.

As with all our releases in 1:18, this model will produced in an exclusive limited edition and will include an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
