Shell V-Power Racing Team Raise $30,000 For Camp Quality

The Shell V-Power Racing Team have raised $30,000 for children’s cancer charity Camp Quality.
 
Team Co-Owners Dick Johnson and Ryan Story, alongside driver Scott McLaughlin handed the cheque to Camp Quality CEO Kylea Tink at their Brisbane offices this morning.
 
The donation comes as a result of a fundraising campaign from the team, spearheaded by Team Principal Story, where replicas of a ‘Ford News: Mustang Wins Championship’ poster were sold online.
 
The poster was made famous by McLaughlin, when he carried one onto the podium after his victory in Race 20 of the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at Queensland Raceway a fortnight ago. The team subsequently paid a $10,000 fine as a result.
 
Story said that the team was overwhelmed by the response from fans on social media and moved quickly to create the fundraising opportunity to turn a negative into a huge positive.
 
“We couldn’t believe the support we received on social media after the race, so we decided to make the posters available for sale with all of the proceeds going to Camp Quality,” said Story.
 
“This has been a passion project for me to raise money for a worthy cause, and I'm grateful to all of our supporters for getting behind it and our partners in Ford and Authentic Collectables for making it happen.”
 
Kylea Tink, Camp Quality CEO, says the children’s cancer charity is extremely grateful for Shell V-Power Racing Team’s surprise support.
 
“Camp Quality relies heavily on the generosity of people fundraising in the community to help us give any kid facing cancer the chance to be a kid again,” said Tink. “This $30,000 means 14 kids dealing with their own cancer diagnosis, or the diagnosis of a loved one, will now get to go on Camp and laugh, make new friends and have glorious, grubby adventures: an opportunity that many may not have had without this support
